Format for WhatsApp phone numbers

Format for WhatsApp phone numbers

Currently, for a phone number to be recognized by WhatsApp it must be written in the international format.

Example: if the contact is located in the USA, (country code "1"), has the area code "408" and the phone number "XXX-XXXX", you must enter  +1 408 XXX XXXX.

The complete international format for phone numbers will include the plus sign (+) followed by the country code, the area code, and the local phone number.  When communicating with WhatsApp, always send your phone number in the complete international format.

  • Make sure you eliminate the 0 or special calling codes from the beginning of the number.
  • All phone numbers from Argentina (country code "54") must have a "9" between the country code and the area code. The prefix "15" must be eliminated so the final number has a total of 13 digits.: +54 9 XXX XXX XXXX
  • Phone numbers from Mexico (country code "52") must include a "1" after the "+52", even if they are Nextel numbers.

Once you have the number in the international format you will save it in the "mobile" field of the Contact or Lead in Zoho CRM or in the "mobile" field of Zoho Desk clients.

If you have Zoho CRM integration, you can set up our extension to automatically add the international prefix to numbers that do not yet have it. To do so, you must follow these steps:

1) Access your administrator account in Zoho CRM.
2) Go to Settings
3) Find the All option under Marketplace
4) Under installed extensions, look for the extension VERIFIED WHATSAPP BUSINESS FOR ZOHO CRM by WOZTELL and select Configure.
5) Edit the section Extension Settings.

Example:
If the contact is located in the USA, (country code "1"), has the area code "408" and the phone number "XXX-XXXX", you must enter  +1 408 XXX XXXX.

You have two options:

1) Fill the International prefix field with and the Local number length field with 10. This will correspond to the number of digits including the area code plus the phone number.

This way you can save 10 digit phone numbers without country code 1.

2) Fill the International prefix field with 1408 and the Local number length field with 7. This will correspond to the number of digits including the area code plus the phone number.

This way you can save 7 digit phone number without code 1408.
