How to Create a Basic Chatbot for WhatsApp X WOZTELL

This tutorial guides you through building a simple WhatsApp chatbot using WOZTELL on Make.
You'll learn how to automate replies to incoming WhatsApp messages - ideal for basic support or quick responses.

Overview

Your chatbot workflow consists of just two modules:

1. Watch New WhatsApp Message – Detect incoming messages on your WhatsApp channel.
2. Send WhatsApp Session Message – Automatically reply to the sender.

Visual flow:

Step 1: Watch New WhatsApp Message (WOZTELL)

1. In Make, add the module: WOZTELL | Unleash WhatsApp – Watch New WhatsApp Message.
2. Connect your WOZTELL account.
3. Select the WhatsApp channel you want to monitor.
4. This module will trigger each time a new WhatsApp message arrives.

Step 2: Send an Automated Reply (WOZTELL)

1. Next, add the module: WOZTELL | Unleash WhatsApp – Send WhatsApp Session Message.
2. Use the same WOZTELL connection and channel as in Step 1.
3. Map the sender's phone number from the first module to the recipient field.
4. Set your message type (usually "Text").
5. Write your automated reply in the message field (e.g., "Thanks for contacting us! We'll get back to you soon.").
6. You can personalize the reply or use a fixed message for all users.

Tips & Best Practices

- This basic chatbot setup is perfect for instant auto-responses or "out of office" replies.
- For more advanced automation (AI, FAQ, custom logic), consider adding extra modules like Make's AI or external data sources.
- Test your scenario by sending a WhatsApp message to your connected channel.

Result

Once activated, your chatbot will:
- Instantly reply to every new WhatsApp message received.
- Help you automate basic support and improve response speed.
