Claim Now Your WhatsApp Username with WOZTELL

Hi there,

WhatsApp is rolling out usernames, a unique @handle tied to your business phone number.

Reservations are already open, and whatever you claim today activates automatically once usernames launch in your region. The best handles will go fast, so we recommend reserving yours now.

What you should know before you start:

  • Your username is a unique @handle linked to your business phone number. Unlike consumer usernames, your number stays visible on your business profile.
  • Each business phone number needs its own username. If you run multiple numbers, each one needs a different handle (display names can stay the same).
  • Usernames run 3–35 characters using lowercase letters, numbers, periods, and underscores.

How to reserve yours in a few minutes:

  1. In WOZTELL, go to Channels, select your channel, open Platform, and click "Claim your username." This opens WhatsApp Manager.
  2. Select the business phone number you want the username on.
  3. Open the Username section, enter your preferred handle, and if it's available, confirm and submit.
  4. "Reserved" or "Approved" means you're all set.

Note: if your preferred handle is already used by your own Facebook Page or Instagram account, you'll first need to link your business phone number to that Page or account. Handles claimed by other businesses can't be taken.

One more thing: usernames come alongside a bigger technical change called BSUID, a new identifier that arrives in your system when a customer messages you by username instead of sharing their number. If your integrations or CRM rely on customer phone numbers, we recommend reviewing them before usernames fully launch.

We've put together a blog covering usernames across WhatsApp Personal, Business, and the Cloud API, plus everything you need to know about BSUID:
